Kirsten Green

Kirsten Green, General Partner

Kirsten Green used a unique and unconventional blend of professional history and acquired investment experience to launch San Francisco-based Forerunner Ventures in 2010, where she currently serves as Founder and Managing Director. Noticing that emerging purchasing processes were linear and ripe for improvement, Kirsten developed a pacesetter mentality and analytical eye to remain ahead of experience-driven retail trends and identify compelling brand platforms and visionary entrepreneurs.

As a founder, Kirsten has lead efforts to raise over $250M from leading investors and has invested in more than 40 early-stage companies. Forerunner Ventures is the only VC firm to invest in both Dollar Shave Club and Jet.com, two of the biggest and highest-profile e-commerce exits in recent years, and counts Birchbox, Bonobos, Glossier, Hotel Tonight, Warby Parker and Zola among its portfolio companies. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of several Forerunner portfolio companies including Glossier, InTurn, Outdoor Voices, Ritual and Rockets of Awesome among others.

In an unpredictable consumer landscape, Kirsten’s 20+ years of evaluation and investment success stems from a combination of product savvy, retail acumen and a thesis-driven approach that has been the basis of all Forerunner investments — from pre-revenue startups to multi-billion- dollar enterprises- to date. She’s been honored in Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World 2017, named VC of the Year at TechCrunch’s 2017 Crunchies Awards, and is part of Forbes 2017 Midas List in addition to being named in the magazine’s roundup of “Top Women Investors in VC.”

Prior to Forerunner, Kirsten was an equity research analyst and investor at Banc of America Securities, formerly Montgomery Securities, covering publicly-traded retail and consumer stocks. Kirsten graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Business Economics, and earned a CPA license and a CFA certification.

Eurie Kim

Eurie Kim, General Partner

Eurie joined Forerunner Ventures in May 2012. Over the past 15 years, Eurie has evaluated and aided a wide variety of companies in their quest to define business models, identify target markets, understand consumer behavior, and overcome operational and competitive challenges to drive growth. As a management consultant at Bain and Company, Eurie advised large retail and e-commerce clients on strategy, identifying acquisition opportunities, and harnessing consumer insights to drive growth. Prior to Bain, Eurie was an investor at Castanea Partners where she evaluated growth investments in consumer and retail businesses. Eurie also has a personal passion for entrepreneurship, which inspired her to launch an artisanal leather goods brand as well as serve on the founding team of a European luxury brand incubator. At Forerunner, Eurie has supported investments in 30+ early stage companies and currently serves on the Board of Directors of several Forerunner portfolio companies including: Away, Alchemy, BloomThat, Curology, MoveWith, and The Farmer’s Dog.

Eurie earned an MBA with honors at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and holds a B.S. with honors in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.

Melissa Grillo Aruz

Melissa Grillo Aruz, Head of Platform

Melissa joined the Forerunner Ventures team in 2014. Over the past 15+ years, Melissa has worked on both the agency and brand side to create and evolve marketing programs that reflect not only brands’ personas, but also drive impactful results. Prior to Forerunner, Melissa led her own consulting practice specializing in online acquisition and marketing for e-commerce and content brands.such as J.Crew, Warby Parker, Birchbox and others. Melissa was also the first Director of Online Marketing at Gilt Groupe where she was part of their exponential growth period. As Head of Platform at Forerunner, Melissa supports our portfolio companies across marketing, community, talent and connecting founders and their teams with the tools or advice they need to be successful.

Melissa earned a BA in Art History and Italian Studies from Trinity College.

Nicole Johnson

Nicole Johnson, Investor

Nicole joined the Forerunner team in December 2013. She previously worked with SapientNitro, a leading brand and digital strategy consultancy where she supported the development of the global eCommerce strategy and omni-channel growth strategy for a multinational luxury eyewear conglomerate. She led competitive research and analysis with an emphasis on consumer technology innovation. Nicole also led research efforts for continued M&A evaluations throughout the eyewear landscape.

Nicole graduated cum laude with an A.B. in Psychology from Princeton University. She was named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 List in Venture Capital in 2016.

KJ Sidberry

KJ Sidberry, Investor

KJ joined the Forerunner team in January 2017 from The Boston Consulting Group, where he performed pricing strategy, due diligence, industry analysis, and growth planning for leading technology focused enterprises. An enthusiast of consumer brands, technology, and the intersection of the two, KJ led market research to understand technology’s impact on the consumer landscape, with particular focus on the rise and continued evolution of the Internet of Things. Prior to BCG, KJ was also a senior analyst in the strategy practice at Accenture.

KJ graduated with an A.B. in Computer Science from Harvard University, with a focus on data science and mobile usability design.

Ashley Rogers

Ashley Rogers, Executive Support & Operations

Ashley joined Forerunner Ventures in January 2017, bringing three years of administrative experience supporting senior level executives in the private equity realm. She is enthusiastic about the emergence of new and exciting brands, as well as the evolving consumer trends in retail and eCommerce. At Forerunner, Ashley provides comprehensive executive and operations support across our partners, portfolio, and extended Forerunner community.

Ashley graduated with a B.A. in English Literature from University of California, Santa Barbara, and holds an M.S. in Writing and Publishing from Portland State University.
